Strategic roadmap of a major Small Modular Reactor developer
For the CEO: equity story, positioning, markets, product & partnerships and operational efficiency strategies, company culture
DWDG worked with the leadership team of a major SMR player across 7 workstreams to define the company’s vision
Strategy and positioning: we build the overall vision for the company, synthesized in a clear discourse for the top management alongside elements to communicate to the teams. We defined 5 different business models to offer, each with modelled LCOE/LCOH economics and integrated that into a consolidated business plan and equity story
Markets: we identified the top 15 markets to address, within which we build a prioritized list of markets for business development. We complemented it with a view of the key sectors to adress as well (offtakers of either electricity and/or heat). We identified 80 sites where the SMR could be deployed in those countries, mapping and sizing energy-demanding clusterse (mainly industrial areas and datacenters).
Product: we assisted the team in consolidated a product roadmap for the top management and shareholders. We brought further insights on the potential gains from modularisation, drawing on expertise from other industries and leveraging DWDG experts.
Partners: we built an industrial partnership strategy, redesigning the value chain to integrated modularity on specific scopes where productivity gains could be expected. We size the potential gains from modularizatio, identified efforts from comparable competitors on modularisation and identified key potential engineering partners through interviews.
Operational efficiency: we synthesized a delivery model (governance, workforce planning) to deliver on the vision
Management and company culture: we synthesized the principles guiding the development of company culture, as the client was about to enter a significant growth of their team
Stakeholder engagement: we identified the key stakeholders the ExCom defined engagement strategies for each
